Preparation that treats you like a future colleague.
NBEO Prep Tutors exists for one purpose: to get optometry students and graduates through their board examinations with real understanding, not memorized guesswork.
We are a small team of optometry educators with over 10 years of experience helping students pass their board certification exams. We know the NBEO exams are different from the exams you took in school — they reward clinical judgment and pattern recognition far more than recall — and that difference is where good students most often get caught.
So we don't hand you a library of recordings and wish you luck. Every candidate works directly with a tutor who builds the plan, watches the progress, and adjusts as the weeks go on. The goal is not just a passing score; it's the clinical reasoning that score is supposed to represent.
We prepare first-time candidates aiming to pass on their initial attempt just as often as we work with students returning after an unsuccessful attempt or a long gap since graduation. Whichever describes you, it's exactly the situation we're built for: we find the specific gaps, build confidence, and change how you approach the question itself.
What stays constant across every student is a straightforward promise: we meet you where you are — all tutoring is one-on-one and fully online — we're honest about what needs work, and we hold you to the standard the exam will. We'd rather tell you a topic isn't ready than let you walk in hoping.
Preparation is collaborative. You're encouraged to ask questions, flag what isn't landing, and track your own progress between sessions. Our job is to make heavy material manageable and to turn "I think I know this" into "I can answer this."
When you prepare with us, you're investing in becoming a licensed optometrist — and in the clinical confidence you'll carry well past test day.
Every NBEO examination, covered by a tutor who knows it.
We focus exclusively on the NBEO pathway, so our preparation is specific to each exam's format and demands rather than general optometry review.
